The North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response program is a system of seven teams strategically located throughout the state to provide hazardous materials response services to the citizens of North Carolina. The Regional Response Team’s (RRT) coverage takes into account population centers and transportation corridors, as well as other factors. The RRTs are available to respond to hazardous materials incidents whenever the incident exceeds the local responders capabilities. The response can include technical support, manpower, specialized equipment and/or supplies.
Fayetteville staffs RRT-3 of the seven response teams. Team members are qualified to handle a wide range of hazardous materials incidents. Each member is certified as a Hazardous Materials Responder Level II through the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal. The team covers a 12 county region that includes: Cumberland, Bladen, Robeson, Scotland, Richmond, Hoke, Sampson, Wayne, Johnston, Harnett, Lee and Moore Counties. The team's state-of-the-art equipment and supplies are transported in a specially designed tractor-trailer truck, complete with a communications center and work area in the rear of the unit. Additional apparatus and trailers compliment the main response unit.
For additional information visit RRT-3 at Station 1 or contact the team by calling 910-433-1731.
